The Renfrew Victoria Hospital (RVH) is a 55-bed, fully accredited facility located just 45 minutes west of Ottawa, serving a catchment area of over 60,000. Part of the Renfrew and Area Health Village, RVH provides medical, surgical and complex continuing care, as well as extensive ambulatory care with over 30,000 emergency and clinic visits per year.

RVH is seeking a General Ophthalmologist to provide outpatient consulting services to meet a significant community need following the unexpected leave of our longstanding consulting ophthalmologist. This opportunity offers a flexible clinic-based practice with an established referral network and the ability to tailor clinic frequency to physician availability. Historically, our ophthalmology service has operated 1 to 2 clinic days per month, seeing approximately 50 to 60 patients per clinic day, with referrals generated by a large and engaged primary care community.

• Fully equipped examination room, including a slit lamp
• Epic electronic medical record (EMR) with remote access
• Experienced medical secretary for scheduling and administrative support

• No inpatient responsibilities, no emergency department coverage, no on-call requirements
• Strong referral base from local Family Health Teams, Family Health, Organizations, and Community Physicians

This position may be ideal for physicians seeking a part-time consulting practice, semiretired ophthalmologists, or ophthalmologists looking to supplement an existing practice in the Ottawa region.

Position Qualifications:

• Applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). A clear and viable pathway to licensure must be established at the time of application.
• Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or equivalent training (e.g., American Board Certification) are eligible for RCPSC assessment with specialty certification in Ophthalmology.
