Emergency Medicine Owen Sound- Full-Time/Part-Time Permanent

Overview

Brightshores Health System (http://www.brightshores.ca/) Brightshores Health System operates six hospitals in the Grey Bruce region serving a population of over 170,000. The Owen Sound hospital is a Level 2 regional referral centre with a Level 3 ICU, offering a full range of specialty services through the Departments of Anaesthesia, Diagnostic Imaging, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Oncology, Hospitalist Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pathology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery (ENT, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Urology).

ED Team

Our strong, collegial ED team is currently comprised of sixteen (16) full- and part-time permanent Emergency Medicine physicians.

Service Delivery

With annual volumes of over 36,000 visits, double-coverage shifts, 24-hour labs, excellent specialty back-up, and comprehensive diagnostic imaging (including 2 MRI's and 24-hour CT availability), our modern facilities are exceptionally well equipped.

Schedule

We schedule five, 8-hour shifts per day, including 16 hours of double physician coverage daily.

Opportunity

Full-time (10+ shifts/month) positions, or equivalent in part-time positions, are available immediately in Owen Sound. Corporate Rural Emergency Medicine positions also available wherein physicians may work at more than 1 ED within the region (example: distance from Owen Sound to most rural sites is approx. 30 min). Thriving rural hospitals are also located in Lion's Head, Markdale, Meaford, Southampton and Wiarton, servicing a range of ambulatory, in-patient and emergency needs.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold:

• FRCPC in Emergency Medicine, CCFP(EM), or CCFP (Family Medicine) eligible for independent practice in Ontario
• Equivalent international training in Emergency Medicine, with eligibility to sit the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) examination in Emergency Medicine or CFPC equivalent
• Have completed, or be eligible to complete, the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC) examinations.
• Candidates must hold, or be eligible for, independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
