The WHGH embraces collaboration to provide basic hospital and health care services to the people of Hagersville, Caledonia, Jarvis, Townsend, Cayuga, Fisherville, Selkirk, Nanticoke, the Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. As a 23-bed hospital with approximately 330 staff, physicians, and volunteers, the WHGH provides exceptional care to 25,000 residents including 24/7 Emergency Department Care, Day Surgery, Acute Care, Physiotherapy, Diagnostic Imaging and various specialty clinics. WHGH works in strong partnership with Norfolk General Hospital and Hamilton Health Sciences to expand services, improve access to care, and build a stronger health system. About the Opportunity WHGH is seeking 2-3 Hospitalists to support the 23-bed inpatient unit. The ideal candidate would be available to start as soon as July 2026, and those with both long-term and short-term availability are encouraged to apply. Candidates with availability beyond the Summer of 2026 are also encouraged to apply for future consideration. Successful candidates will provide 24/7 on-call coverage for 1-week rotations running from Monday to Monday or Friday to Friday and will have the option to provide backup coverage to the Emergency Department if desired (although not required). Admitted patients will be transferred to the incoming hospitalist at the end of each rotation, and additional shifts may be available if desired. WHGH offers physicians a sleep room on-site as well as off-site accommodations approximately 20-25 mins away if needed. The position offers competitive remuneration via FFS (with a guaranteed weekly minimum of $7000 in billings plus HOCC stipend) and additional incentives for any (optional) ED coverage provided. This is a competitive and lucrative opportunity located in a rural setting, but only a short drive from the city. Previous in-patient hospitalist experience is preferred, and candidates who choose to provide backup coverage to the ED are required to hold ACLS, and ATLS and PALS certifications.
