The WHGH embraces collaboration to provide basic hospital and health care services to the people of Hagersville, Caledonia, Jarvis, Townsend, Cayuga, Fisherville, Selkirk, Nanticoke, the Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. As a 23-bed hospital with approximately 330 staff, physicians, and volunteers, the WHGH provides exceptional care to 25,000 residents including 24/7 Emergency Department Care, Day Surgery, Acute Care, Physiotherapy, Diagnostic Imaging and various specialty clinics. WHGH works in strong partnership with Norfolk General Hospital and Hamilton Health Sciences to expand services, improve access to care, and build a stronger health system. About the Opportunity The WHGH is currently looking for 2-3 physicians to each provide coverage for 6-8 shifts per month to support the Emergency Department. The ideal candidate would be available to provide long-term coverage, but short-term opportunities may also be available. WHGH ED physicians provide single coverage (with backup available) on weekday days from 0800-1800 and nights from 1800-0800, and on weekends from 0800-2000 and 2000-0800. Physicians are supported by an NP during the weekday day shifts, and the successful candidate can expect to see 40-50 patients per shift (with night shifts typically experiencing lower volumes). WHGH offers physicians a sleep room on-site as well as off-site accommodations approximately 20-25 mins away if needed. WHGH ED physicians receive competitive remuneration including a shift stipend plus 37.42% in shadow billing and a bonus for physicians who work more than 6 shifts per month. Candidates are not required to have +1 training in Emergency Medicine, but ATLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.
