
Join Our Surgical Team in Elliot Lake
St. Joseph's General Hospital Elliot Lake (SJGHEL) is seeking a full-time General Surgeon to join our dynamic and compassionate surgical team. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive general surgical care, including pre-operative assessment, intra-operative management, and post-operative follow-up.
- Perform a full range of general surgical procedures in accordance with clinical guidelines and hospital protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesia, nursing, and specialty consultants, to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards (Meditech Expanse).
- Participate in on-call rotations as required, ensuring 24/7 surgical coverage for emergencies and acute cases.
- Support patient education and shared decision-making, promoting informed consent and post-operative recovery plans.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, infection control standards, and professional conduct expectations.
- Facilitate smooth handover and transition of care when departing the role.
Requirements
- FRCSC certification in General Surgery.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-residency clinical experience in General Surgery, with demonstrated competence in a broad range of surgical procedures.
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
- Current malpractice insurance coverage or ability to obtain prior to commencing practice.
- Eligible for hospital privileges at St. Joseph’s General Hospital.
- Additional training in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) or ERCP is considered an asset.
