Brightshores Health System operates six hospitals in the Grey Bruce region serving a population of over 170,000. The Owen Sound hospital is a Level 2 regional referral centre, offering a full range of specialty services through the Departments of Anaesthesia, Medical Imaging, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Oncology, Hospitalist Medicine, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Pathology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery (ENT, General/Thoracic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Urology).
Thriving rural hospitals are also located in Lion’s Head, Markdale, Meaford, Southampton and Wiarton, servicing a range of ambulatory, in-patient and emergency needs. Another five hospitals located within the region also refer to our specialists.
Facilities
With 24-hour labs, excellent specialty back-up and comprehensive diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, PACS capability), our regional centre is exceptionally well equipped. The new Markdale hospital is now completed and will include modern ambulatory care and procedure room space.
Service Delivery
Our Gastroenterology program is growing. We are seeking a 2nd Full-Time Permanent Gastroenterologist to establish a consultation practice based out of Owen Sound, serving Grey & Bruce Counties. Clinical service including outpatient practice and hospital duties includes Emergency Department consultations, and acute inpatient unit care either as admitting Most Responsible Physician (MRP) and/or consulting care. Specialty and/or General Internal Medicine On-Call service model to be defined based on candidates' training and level of experience. In addition, the availability for Ambulatory Care and ERCP Operating Room time can be explored based on candidates’ practice interests.

Qualifications
Interested candidates will ideally hold applicable FRCPC designation and/or relevant equivalent qualifications (e.g., USA board certification, training in Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada approved training jurisdictions, or Practice Eligibility Route candidates).
Independent license to practice in Ontario and/or eligibility for licensure with the College of Physician and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
Compensation
Physicians are independent contractors within the province of Ontario and remuneration is primarily funded through Fee-for-Service Billings via the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). Applicable fee codes are outlined in the Schedule of Medical Benefits of Ontario.
Ministry of Health On-Call Coverage (HOCC) Program funding, as applicable.
