Brightshores Health System operates six hospitals in the Grey Bruce region with its Level 2 regional referral hospital located in the City of Owen Sound. A full range of specialty services are offered through the Departments of Anesthesia, Diagnostic Imaging, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Oncology, Hospitalist Medicine, Internal Medicine, Palliative Care, Pathology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery (ENT, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Urology). With annual ER volumes of over 90,000 visits across Brightshores six hospitals, 24-hour labs, excellent specialty back-up, and comprehensive diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, PACS capability), our modern facilities are very well equipped. Thriving rural hospitals are located in the communities of Lion's Head, Markdale, Meaford, Southampton and Wiarton, servicing a range of ambulatory, in-patient and emergency needs.
Pediatricians at Brightshores-Owen Sound Hospital provides on-call support, inpatient service for pediatric and neonatal patients, and hospital-based outpatient consultations and follow-up to a wide catchment area of over 170,000 residents and more than 2 million short-stay visitors each year. The Owen Sound Hospital has a Level 2b Intensive Care Nursery that routinely admits neonates 32+ weeks, with the ability to provide non-invasive ventilation, TPN and emergency care as needed. We are well supported by our colleagues and units in tertiary care at the Children's Hospital – London Health Sciences Centre. We have 5 dedicated pediatric ward beds, with privileges to admit pediatric patients to the ICU. We also deliver well-newborn care to over 800 babies born in Owen Sound per year. Additionally, there are 2-pediatric mental health beds that are managed by a full-time Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. We are also a teaching program affiliated with both Western and McMaster Universities with opportunity to be involved in teaching pediatric medicine for medical residents.

Interested candidates will ideally hold applicable FRCPC designation and an independent license to practice in Ontario. Potential for supervision may be available. Up-to-date PALS and NRP are strongly encouraged.
