St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake is seeking a General Surgeon for locum coverage to join our supportive and collaborative surgical team.

Locum Opportunity

• Flexible General Surgery locum opportunities available throughout the year, based on coverage needs and physician availability
• Coverage may include up to 5 operating room (OR) days or 5 clinic days per week
• On-call coverage as required during the locum period
• Collaborative surgical and interdisciplinary team
• Opportunity to provide a broad scope of general surgical care within a community hospital setting

Practice Environment

• 55-bed community hospital with a 6-bed Level 2 ICU
• 24/7 laboratory and diagnostic imaging services, including CT, X-ray and ultrasound
• Support from anesthesia, nursing and allied health professionals
• Visiting specialty services and established referral pathways
• MEDITECH Expanse EMR

Compensation & Locum Supports

• 100% OHIP Fee-for-Service billings
• HOCC (Hospital On-Call Coverage) stipend
• Option to provide surgical assistant call for additional income
• Locum scheduling and available supports discussed with interested physicians

Qualifications

• FRCSC certification in General Surgery
• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
• Current CMPA coverage or ability to obtain coverage prior to commencing practice
• Eligible for hospital privileges at St. Joseph’s General Hospital
• Additional training in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) or ERCP is considered an asset
