Overview
A community based general internal medicine specialist providing comprehensive consultant in-patient and out-patient services
Primary Responsibilities
- Daily rounds on patients, including facilitation of timely discharge
- Availability to participate in hospital committees pertaining to specialty
- Participate in teaching rounds as available
Office
Must maintain community office practice
On-Call
- On-call responsibilities include 1 in 9 for Internal Medicine
- Timely response to request for consultations in the ER and inpatient units
Resources
- Available outpatient clinics includes: Diabetes Clinic, Heart Function Program, and Stress Testing
- ECG and Holter Monitoring are shared amongst the group
- Outpatient clinic for minor procedures
Administrative and Quality
- Participation in strategic planning and program development of medical services.
- Participation in ongoing quality improvement and safety activities related to medical care.
- Participation in hospital committees pertaining to speciality and as required by the credentialed staff by-laws.
- Efficient use of resources.
Remuneration
- Fee for Service
- HOCC for on-call
- In hospital cardio diagnostic procedures are billed by hospital and then paid monthly
Requirements
- College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) unrestricted license that allows the physician to fulfill the requirements of this position.
- Fellowship in Internal Medicine recognized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
